Galway County During the Irish Civil War, 1922–1923 — Digital Heritage Project

Information is furnished below on the people and places affected by the events of the Civil War, 1922–1923. This conflict, which was waged between those who supported and opposed the Anglo-Irish Treaty, lasted from 27 June 1922–24 May 1923. In the entries below, readers can find out more about incidents such as the attack on Headford Barracks by anti-Treaty forces on 8 April 1923 and the execution of six republican prisoners in Tuam three days afterwards.
