The West Connemara Flying Column and the Irish Independence Struggle, 1919-23
The West Connemara Flying Column was composed of young men from South and West Connemara and engaged the crown forces in a series of battles in West Galway between January and July 1921. This is their story, from their motivations to fight, through to the bitter fall out from the Civil War and emigration.
