Michael John Broderick

I’m Michael John Broderick, Sliabh Rua, Athenry. Michael and John O’Grady, Old Church Street Athenry, they were brothers not married. They were doing taxi in Athenry at the time. They had a horse and sidecar They’d just transport the Volunteers and officers and also collect ammunition. One of them did a little farming. They had a small piece of land a mile outside the town. A place called Boyhill. I wouldn’t have known much about them, only see them the odd time. The died off and I don’t think there is any relations around Athenry, at the moment.

Is mise Michael John Broderick, Sliabh Rua, Baile Átha an Rí. Deartháireacha a bhí in Michael agus John O’Grady, Sráid na Seaneaglaise, Baile Átha an Rí, nár phós riamh. Bhíodh obair tacsaí ar siúl acu i mBaile Átha an Rí ag an am. Bhí capall acu agus carr cliathánach. Thugaidís na hÓglaigh agus na hoifigigh ó áit go háit agus bhailídís an lón airm. Bhí beagán feirmeoireachta ar bun ag duine den bheirt. Bhí beagán talún acu míle bealaigh amach ón mbaile, áit a bhfuil Cnocán na mBuachaillí air. Ní bheadh an oiread sin eolais agam orthu ach go bhfaca mé iad ó am go chéile. Cailleadh iad agus ní dóigh liom go bhfuil aon duine muinteartha leo i gceantar Bhaile Átha an Rí faoi láthair.
