District continues free from Epidemic disease

‘Tuam, 25th August 1916

Gentlemen,

I beg to report that the District continues free from Epidemic disease, no case was reported during the month.  I am your obedient Servant,

W. Burke, Dairy Inspector, reported that he inspected 67 Dairies and Cowsheds during the month and found them clean, he submitted his report book for examination.

Pursuant to notice given to each Councillor it was proposed by Mr. Naughton.  Seconded by Mr. Staunton and passed unanimously:- “That the wells, one at Cloonbar and one at Emone be deepened and walled in, to protect them from pollution at a cost of £7 10/ = and that that the area of charge for expenses incurred or to be incurred be the Headford Dispensary District.’

Letter from Mr. Hosty, Solr. Dated 15 Septr, stating that he has been instructed by Mr. Martin Cooney of Tullinadaly Road Tuam, to draw attention to the insanitary condition of the street opposite his house.  It is in a most filthy condition and dangerous to human life.  Owing to the insanitary condition of the place two of his children have taken ill, and unless the nuisance is forthwith abated his instructions are to institute proceedings against the District Council for damages for the sickness caused to his children by reason of the insanitary condition of the place, and requesting that the matter would receive immediate attention.

Order:

Serve notice on Mr James McDonnell to abate the nuisance forthwith.’
