‘When Oranmore police barracks were attacked by the Sinn Fein Volunteers on 25th of April these seven men of the Royal Irish Constabulary bravely held the fort for several hours until assistance arrived. Their names are:-

Seated (left to right) – Sergt J. Healy, Consts. P Heffernan, P. Smith, D. Foley,

Standing – Consts. J. Hannon, A. Barrett, T. McDermott. ‘
