The Jews flee Jaffa

Liberty Hall - James Connolly Scroll Removed

Those who resisted were hanged

During their flight from Jaffa, the Jews, with the concurrence of the Turkish authorities, were robbed, their homes were destroyed, and those who resisted were hanged, and thousands wandered helpless and starving along the roads.

Liberty Hall was entered by the police on Saturday evening and a scroll commemorating the death of James Connolly was taken down, but there was comparatively little excitement.
