11am Official Welcome Fr. Flanagan Memorial Centre, Ballymoe, Co. Galway
11.10am – 11.25am “The special aspects that religion played during the 1916 Rising” by Fr. Joe Poole P.P. Ballymoe and Ballintober.
11.25am – 11.40am “The importance of remembering Eamonn Ceannt in our Community” by John Martin Griffin, Secretary, Ballymoe Development Company
11.40am – 11.55am “Éamonn Ceannt – trappings of a Leader of the Revolution” by Dave Swift
11.55am – 12.20pm “Éamonn Ceannt – a man for all seasons” by Mary Gallagher
12.30pm Official opening of ‘The Éamonn Ceannt Commemorative Garden’ by Cllr. Michael Connolly, Cathaoirleach of the County of Galway & Mr.Michael Sheehy (grand nephew of Éamonn Ceannt)
12.45pm Refreshments (served in – Fr. Flanagan Memorial centre)
Display of 1916 Artifacts & Memorabilia in Fr. Flanagan Memorial Centre
Claíomh will have a display of artifacts and memorabilia that will include 1916 era Irish Volunteer original and reproduction uniform items and equipment including tunics, leather webbing, arms and accoutrements. There will also be a small selection of Cumann na mBan, British Army and RIC artefacts on view.
