The Military Service Acts have led to a large number of men joining the colour

‘Read:

Circular Letter dated 29th July 1916, and signed by Herbert Samuel, Home Secy, L. Harcourt, Acting Pres. of the Board of Trade & Walter Long, President of the L. G. Board stating that the development of recruiting and the passing of the Military Service Acts have led to a large number of men joining the colour, and expressing a hope that the men who have gone forth to fight our Country’s battles shall in their civil positions suffer as little as possible for their patriotism, and they wished to appeal to the public to help to secure the object by continuing to support the shops and businesses of men who have themselves or whose Assistants have joined the King’s Forces.’
