WORKHOUSE ENTERTAINMENT

On Sunday, the 2nd inst., an entertainment was given to the inmates of the Tuam Union by the Rev. Clergy of the town, who are to be complimented for their painstaking efforts in making the occasion such a splendid success, and special thanks are due to the following who took part in the Concert: – Miss Walsh, Miss Naughton, Miss King, and Miss Nuala Costello.  Messrs. Willie Quinn, Martin Corcoran, John Shine, P. Gibbons, J. Flynn, P. Flynn, J. Bane, J. Garvey, J. Commins, and the Masters Slattery.  The singing of “A Nation Once Again” completed a very interesting programme.

The following ladies and gentlemen sent fruit, sweet cakes, and tobacco, which were distributed amongst the inmates previous to the Concert:- Mrs Walsh, Mrs Meagher, Mrs Nohilly, Mrs. J. Cunningham, Mrs P.E. carroll, Mrs Mellin, Mrs Hosty, Mr Patrick McHugh, Rev. Father Heneghan, C.C.

Old Magazines and Papers Wanted

Mr. T. Nohilly, Master of the Workhouse, begs to thank those who have so kindly sent him papers, magazines, etc., for the benefit of the sick and infirm inmates of the Institution during the past year, and with a renewal of his appeal he solicits all who are in the position of doing so to contribute to the happiness during the past year, and with a renewal of his appeal he solicits all who are in the position of doing so to contribute to the happiness of those people during the coming year in a like manner, which he can assure the public is much appreciated by them.
